After graduating from Columbia University in 1989, and later earning a Masters Degree in Film and Television from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications program in 1992, Kerr was initially hired by N.E.F. Filmproduktion, a German / French production and distribution company based in Munich, Germany, as an assistant to the producing partners of Fran¨ois Duplat and Hans Brockmann.

Later Kerr actively participated in arranging the financing, production, as well as the European and U.S. distribution of numerous films, including Louis Malle's DAMAGE (cast: Jeremy Irons, Juliette Binoche), John Duigan's SIRENS (cast: Hugh Grant, Tara Fitzgerald, Elle MacPherson), Paul Anderson's SHOPPING (cast: Jude Law, Sadie Frost), and Patrice Chereau's QUEEN MARGOT (cast: Isabelle Adjani, Daniel Auteuil, Vincent Perez).

She also worked closely with the company's London-based executive, Robert Jones, on the acquisition of completed films, including the critically acclaimed HOWARD'S END, THE COOK, THE THIEF, HIS WIFE, AND HER LOVER, and AU REVOIR LES ENFANTS, for the purposes of theatrical distribution and television licensing throughout Europe under the NEF 2 distribution label.

In 1994, Kerr was assigned the task of establishing a U.S. production office (Trinity Entertainment) in Los Angeles, where she supervised the production on films such as Bryan Singer's THE USUAL SUSPECTS (cast: Kevin Spacey, Gabriel Byrne, Benicio Del Toro, Stephen Baldwin), Paul Thomas Anderson's HARD EIGHT (cast: Gwyneth Paltrow, John C. Reilly, Philip Baker Hall), and Philippe Rousselot's THE SERPENT'S KISS (cast: Ewan MacGregor, Richard E. Grant, Carmen Chaplin). In addition, she was responsible for running and managing Trinity's day-to-day business operation.

Currently based in Los Angeles, Kerr is working independently to secure financing and distribution for projects from a variety of sources, including European media funds.
